Some of the safety rules we use are:

q       No jumping from the boat to the pier.

q       Use one of the fending poles, not your body parts to push the boat off.

q       All ways hold the fending pole to your side, never put the end against your body.

q       Never wrap a line around your hand.

q       When getting ready to depart the boat should be held in place from the boat with a line, not from the dock and then jumping onto the boat.

q       When underway always hold on to some thing when moving around.

q       Bow ridding is not permitted at any time.

q       When the driver calls out “wake” or “hold on” every one should be prepared for excessive rocking of the boat.

q       No talking during docking or pulling away from the slip so the driver can hear the person assisting with maneuvering.

q       No eating with utensils when under way.

q       When at anchors no diving until we check the water depth and the bottom for any shallow spots.

q       Basic VFH radio use.

q       No drinking and driving.
